I hate bananas. Everyone, who knows me, knows I detest them. I will often refer to them, as the devil's food or satan's breakfast. The taste, the smell, the texture - everything about them is vomit inducing to me. Nothing makes me want to barf my guts out more than bananas...ok, that's a part lie. Tequila, kiwis and crab cakes will cause my throat to tighten and my mouth to water in that way that only means it's all coming back out, as well.
Now you're probably wondering why I would feel this way about such a great, versatile fruit. Well...I'm not entirely sure. I just do. I am disgusted by them. I can detect the smallest hint of banana in anything. Keep your smoothies, muffins and banana desserts away from me, please. Their odour is offensive to me, too. They have the worst BO of any fruit available in the grocery store. It will even permeate through plastic and metal! I recall my mother packing them in my lunches and anything that was in my lunchbox would have absorbed the nasty banana flavour - sandwiches, cookies, chips, crackers - all of it tainted with essence of banana. I could even smell it in my backpack and on my exercise books! Sick!
I suppose you are assuming that I must just be a picky eater. It's the only logical explanation. That could not be farther from the truth. I will happily eat curry, onions, liver, sardines, cilantro, mushrooms, green peppers and olives. I am definitely not a picky eater. We all have a few foods we despise and for me, it is the beloved banana. Perhaps, it's a biological and protective response because I got sick after eating one once. A primitive reflex left over from our ancestors to protect us from eating something poisonous. If one ate something, then got sick, it was avoided, as it was clearly poisonous. That make sense to me. What do you think?

About Me
- Theresa
- I live in a world that includes diseased unicorns and fairies. I have a wealth of cynicism and good looks. I enjoy rainy days and long walks on polluted beaches. I can find the ridiculousness in most situations, especially anything involving my children.
